　　These are exciting times for the data center industry and its optical module suppliers. One could hardly imagine a time of greater change. The amount of data generated by businesses and consumers is growing very rapidly. Data storage requires more capacity. Data sharing and processing requires faster networks and servers. It is not surprising that data centers are increasing in size to handle the increasing flow of data, often referred to as a “data tsunami“. Scaling the amplitude of this data tsunami and understanding its impact on data centers is critical for forecasting demand for data storage and networking equipment as well as market potential for data center optical interconnects.
　　現在對于數據中心和它的光模塊供應商來說是熱鬧的時節。人們很難想象還會來更大的變化！企業和消費者產生的數據增長非?？?。數據存儲需要更大的容量。數據共享和處理需要更快的網絡和服務器。數據中心的規模在擴大來應對數據流量的增長，這通常叫做“數據風暴”迎接數據風暴的挑戰、明白數據風暴對數據中心的影響對預知數據存儲和網絡設備的需求、數據中心光互連的市場前景至關重要。

　　Sales of 10 GbE transceivers for applications in datacenters exceeded even the most optimistic expectations in 2010-2013. Shipments of 40GbE optics picked up sharply in 2013-2014. Is 100GbE optics just around the corner? Will 400GbE connectivity emerge in 3-5 years? Can optics completely replace copper connectivity? These and other questions will be addressed in the presentation.
